

After unsuccessful try outs with Elche (Spain) and Hatayspor (Turkey), Youssouf Koné is on the road again. The left side defender of Olympique Lyonnais will experience a fourth club since his signing with Lyon in 2019. He has just been transferred in the form of a loan to Troyes. They where promoted in Ligue 1 this year. Youssouf contract with OL ends June 2024.
Born on July 5, 1995 in Bamako (Mali), Youssouf Koné was formed at JMG Soccer Academy of Mali. The Malian defender is known for his physical impact and his ability to win duels.
Youssouf Koné arrived at Lille in 2013 from the Jean-Marc Guillou Academy in Bamako. The Trojan midfielder Rominigue Kouamé had followed the same path in 2016. These two were recruited by the current Trojan sports director François Vitali, who was then in charge of sports development in Lille. The Malian international defender (17 caps) signed his first pro contract in 2015 before being loaned to Reims (2017-18).. He was recognized as one of the 2017/2018 players responsible of Reims upgrading in Conforama Ligue 1.
