SERIE A Club Venezia FC is pleased to announce the signing of Moroccan midfielder Sofian Kiyine, 23, on loan from S.S. Lazio.

Born in Belgium, Kiyine came through the JMG Academy of Lierse in Belgium then was transfered to Standard of Liege before a successful trial with Chievo Verona that brought him to Italy. After a year, Kiyine made it into Chievo’s first team in the 2016/17 season. At age 19, Kiyine made his professional debut in the Coppa Italia in November 2016. In the second half of the 2016/17 season he dressed up in seven Serie A games. In the season of 2018/19 he was loaned to Salernitana in Serie B, then for the 2018/19 season Kiyine returned to Chievo and made 23 appearances (nine starts), witch convinced Lazio to acquire him in July 2019 in a deal worth around €1.5 million.
Sofian is a very talented player and I think he can do great things in this category, as he has already shown when wearing the Chievo shirt. He now has the opportunity to demonstrate the experience he has gained over the past few years and it certainly helped him to mature. Kiyine has the characteristics to play several roles on the field, he has football in his head and this season he can prove it. “

In the last two seasons, Lazio loaned Kiyine back to Salernitana. In 2019/20, Kiyine made 34 appearances and scored 10 goals in Serie B, plus two appearances and one goal in the Coppa Italia. Last season, Kiyine made 13 appearances to help the club earn promotion to Serie A for the first time in 23 years.
