Egyptian Premier League side Bank Al Ahly have signed left back Issahaku Yakubu on a permanent deal coming from Wadi Degla. Wadi Degla for their first time ever where relegated from the Egyptian Premier League at the end of the 2020/2021 season, Bank Al Ahly on the other hand finished second with 4 points behind Zamalek. As expected many core players of Wadi Degla left the club, and with his decision to sign with Bank Al Ahly, Issahaku Yakubu will join his ex Wadi Degla teammates Mohamed Helal and Ahmed Said. Bank Al Ahly as signed the Ghanaian defender with a three-year deal which will keep him at the club until 2024.
The 27-year-old graduate from the JMG Academy in Accra and moved to Degla’s Belgian affiliates Lierse SK in 2014. He spent four years in Europe with Lierse’s U19 and their senior team before signing to another of Degla’s affiliates GS Ergotelis playing in the Greek Championship. His time in Greece was cut short as after just six months he moved to the Egyptian Premier League, where he spent the last two seasons. Yakubu proved to be offensive left back having made 12 assists and scored two goals in 82 appearances for Degla.
