Mehdi Lehaire, 20, has joined the Polish second division side Miedzi II Legnica. The Belgian attacking midfielder has recently been linked with Dutch club FC Utrecht’s youth squad.

Mehdi Lehaire was born on January 22, 2000. He started his football adventure with the JMG academy in Lierse SK, Belgium. At his home club he managed to make his debut in 2 first-team games in the Jupiler Pro League play-offs in May 2017. After a year he joined Dutch FC Utrecht, where he played in the youth team behind the elite.

The Belgian of 1M 85 was tested for several days by the training staff of the second team of citizens of Legnica before signing a contract with Miedz II: “Mehdi looks very good in positions 8 and 10. He has the ability to create a play. He is one of the few talented players to make an appearance on the reserve team. I hope that in the near future, by working in the second team, his talent will develop and over time he can support the first team ”- said Wojciech Robaszek, the reserve coach.

If Lehaire soon confirms his potential in Copper II, then he will also have the chance to train with Copper’s first team.

In the summer of 2015 when he was 15, Mehdi Lehaire came to Montreal for a period of 1 month in post-season preparation with 26 other JMG Belgian academicians from LIERSE. They had played a few preparation matches against teams from the Elite AAA League, as well as against the Montreal Impact’s U15 academy… About fifty players from the Soccer 11 Development League had the opportunity to train with JMG academics.
